About our Team:

We are the Protections (Trust) Engineering Team in eBay’s Payments Organization, responsible for building seller and buyer post sale experiences (Cancel, Returns, Item-Not-Received and Payment Disputes). This team is also responsible for other products including Seller Standards, Feedback and Service metrics.  As a self-motivated and enthusiastic member of our team, you will work with extremely talented engineers, PM and Business partners in a fun environment building world class customer experiences.

Job responsibilities:

  • Work with a team of engineers, product managers and UX designers to define, own and implement the architecture of various product experiences.

  • Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with a high-level design and implement prototypes.

  • Functionally deconstruct sophisticated problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment.

  • Fully and completely understand system interdependencies, trade offs, and limitations.

  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering standard methodologies.

  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

  • Be up to date with the latest in the industry and apply those to internal architecture in the areas of high volume web applications. 

  • Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges. 

  • Collaborate effectively with engineering teams and architects across multiple domains and multiple geographies, to come up with right system integrations. 

  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+  years experience in  front-end development, solid foundation in computer science fundamentals with strong competencies in problem solving and software design

  • Experience with Node JS, Javascript, HTML5, CSS3

  • Deep experience with at least one popular JavaScript framework (e.g. React, Backbone, AngularJS)

  • Experience building high volume web and RESTFul applications

  • Passion for shipping high quality, clean, tested code with an aim to delight users.

  • A passion for building pixel perfect applications to delight our UX designers.

  • Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on the web.

  • Knowledge in practicing OOAD, architectural and design patterns, open source platforms, frameworks, technologies and software engineering methodologies.

  • Experience mentoring/training other engineers on sophisticated technical issues. 

  • Strong customer focus, excellent communication and relationship building skills. Ability to frame a problem clearly and meaningfully

Education:

  • Master's/Bachelor’s in computer science, or equivalent technical degree.
