As a Product Manager for Shopper Understanding and Personalization, you’ll work with a cross-functional team of designers, marketers and engineers, inventing and iterating on an end-to-end, personalized experience for our customers. You will make it easy for our customers to discover new content that leads to serendipitous exploration of our inventory.

The Role:

eBay is a unique marketplace developing opportunities for Sellers and Buyers to transact on a fantastic inventory of more than 1.5Bn listings. We’re working hard to make eBay more engaging and personalized for our users, in order to increase engagement frequency, retention, conversion and ultimately the lifetime value of our customers. Better understanding our users’ purchase intent, through implicit behavior data and explicit feedback, will allow us to provide more relevant guidance and recommendations, build trust, and make our users feel smarter about their purchase decisions.


The product manager on this team will have a huge impact on shaping the future of personalization at eBay. We are looking for a creative, hands-on “doer” with a pinch of growth-hacker that will find innovative ways to make our users’ purchase journey feel more personal and compelling. As a Product Manager for Shopper Understanding and Personalization, you will work at the intersection of machine learning and user experience to solve real customer problems and create unique value. You will need to dive deep into the data, develop an understanding of the competitive ecommerce landscape, and take lessons on engagement and personalization from other verticals like gaming, social media, travel to build the case for new product features. On any given day - whether you’re surveying customers to better understand their needs, partnering with data scientists to scope a feature down to the MVP, or combing through data for new insights

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Product Manager.
  • 2+ years of experience shipping consumer-facing technology products at scale
  • Experience with online advertising, search, recommendation, personalization, or e-commerce
  • Data-informed mindset and proven ability to use data to explore all aspects of a problem and analyze solutions, familiar with A/B experimentation methods and hypothesis-driven product development
  • Adept at product strategy, roadmapping, prioritization and scoping, cross-functional stakeholder management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership working at the intersection of UX and data science.

Responsibilities include:

  • Chart and execute a course for delivering personalized shopping experience on eBay’s Search and Product pages
  • Obsess over your customers and work backwards to define tenets, customer experiences, long-term goals, focus areas and key success metrics.
  • Develop and present working backwards documents and product plans
  • Define new product feature epics and stories working collaboratively with business, architect, ML/AI, and engineering teams to ensure delivery of product vision and roadmap
  • Influence senior leaders across eBay by proactively communicating your vision, reporting plans and progress, and aligning with eBay core values
