About the team:

We play an instrumental role in connecting people with the things they need and love, anytime, anywhere. The Americas help deliver a personalized shopping experience and flawless access to inventory from down the street and around the world, as well as tailored shopping experiences, including customized buying and selling. eBay aims to drive growth into new markets and drive value in the shopping and selling experience through “building, accelerating, and disrupting.” The team is comprised of marketing, merchandising, operations, business selling, consumer selling, and shipping. Our responsibilities include all aspects of the region including operations in the US and Canada.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Finance Manager, Shipping to join our team at eBay. Based in San Jose, CA you will support all financial planning, forecasting and reporting processes for eBay North America Shipping team, establishing clear and open framework for evaluating the business trends and impact of initiatives. Key responsibilities:

  • Support the business in assessment and communication of business performance, trends and strategic tradeoffs to partners and other stakeholders

  • Lead P&L architecture and clarity to management on the direction of the business in terms of Shipping Revenue & operating expense levers and resource allocations

  • Build close partnership with the business teams to identify and assist in the development of analytical frameworks to evaluate growth levers

  • Govern and facilitate compliance and high-quality execution with overall corporate finance timelines and processes

  • Work closely with Controllership to monitor compliance with GAAP, ensure that the relevant financial control processes are used and appropriate audit trail maintained at all times

  • Work with global cross-functional teams and analysts on ad-hoc business projects

  • Demonstrate deep functional based analysis and recommendations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience with increasing responsibility in finance leadership roles with a bias towards quantitative analysis and Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Strong MS Excel skills – candidate should be comfortable with financial modeling and working with large amounts of data; SAP experience a plus

  • Strong work ethic and social skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, initiative, and integrity

  • Proven track record of working effectively with senior, mid-level and junior colleagues to drive results across a broad organization and diverse set of businesses

  • Highly analytical, strategic, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to excellence and a passion for understanding the business

  • Superior communication skills - verbal, written & presentation skills with ability to transition seamlessly from complex analyses to simple/precise business implications

  • Intellectual curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity

  • Experience with database query tools utilizing SQL and a basic understanding of data warehouse architecture a plus

  • Bachelors degree required, MS/MBA a plus
