Technical Product Manager - Search Experience

eBay is a global commerce leader that allows you to craft how the world buys, sells, and gives. You’ll be part of a work culture that’s genuinely committed to diversity and inclusion since its founding more than 20 years ago. Here, you can just be yourself, do your best work, and have a meaningful impact on people across the globe. We are looking for people with drive, ideas, and a passion for helping small businesses succeed to help shape the future of eBay. Does this sound like you? If so, we’d love to talk to you!

About the team

The Search Experience team builds features that optimize the way customers search for, and find, what they’re looking for on the global eBay Marketplace. From the latest gadgets to rare collectibles and antiques, eBay’s inventory is unparalleled. With more than a billion items listed on eBay at any time, the scale at which we operate puts us in a unique position to innovate and provide immediate value to the business. Our team works closely with Product Development, Data Science, Quality Engineering, Design, and other cross-domain organizations to build scalable solutions that are used by millions of customers across the globe every day. We are responsible for one of the most critical functions of the business, connecting our Seller’s inventory with our Buyer’s demand, representing billions of dollars of goods and services transacted on eBay annually.

The Role and Opportunity

We’re seeking a rockstar Product Manager who can help us build data-driven solutions, with a focus on creating a more efficient search experience. This role requires someone who has a large appetite for building out new product ideas from the ground up - this means they are able to bring structure and simplicity to complicated problems. This position is not restricted to a particular location, although majority of the team works out of San Jose, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Define and build product experiences that help users find the proverbial needle in eBay's vast haystack quickly and efficiently. Capture actionable insights about features from business analytics, user research, marketing, and design, and translate them into significant product requirements that tackle customer problems and drive business value. Synthesize data from multiple sources to drive the vision for how users will interact with search.

This role will work directly with partners both within and outside of eBay's Search organization, so phenomenal communication and relationship building skills are required. Also, this is a multi-platform role that will require working on our desktop site as well as eBay’s industry leading mobile applications.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of technical product management or related experience.

  • Proven track record of leading large projects through the entire product life cycle, from concept to delivery.

  • Insights driven approach, stellar communication & people skills.

  • Execution-focused with a bias for action.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience

Benefits are an essential part of your total compensation for the work you do every day. Whether you’re single, in a growing family, or nearing retirement, eBay offers a variety of comprehensive and competitive benefit programs to meet your needs. Including maternal & paternal leave, paid sabbatical, and plans to help ensure your financial security today and in the years ahead because we know feeling financially secure during your working years and through retirement is important.

Here at eBay, we love creating opportunities for others by connecting people from widely diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and geographies. So, being diverse and inclusive isn’t just something we strive for, it is who we are, and part of what we do each and every single day. We want to ensure that as an employee, you feel eBay is a place where, no matter who you are, you feel safe, included, and that you have the opportunity to bring your unique self to work.
