About the Opportunity:

Do you want to be a member of eBay's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) team and help manage the AML/CTF program within an innovative and global organisation? We are currently looking for a Senior AML/CTF Manager, based in our Sydney office, to manage the AML/CTF Compliance program in Australia and support eBay’s global AML compliance program.

You will assist local leadership and the global AML team by ensuring that eBay is able to identify, mitigate and manage the money laundering and terrorism financing (ML/TF) risks that it may face with respect to the eBay Managed Payments Program. To do this, you will partner with internal teams to oversee and advise on the execution of the AML/CTF program and controls and will assist in the design, development and implementation of additional controls as the business continues to evolve.

The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of the AML/CTF requirements in Australia; a strong understanding of risk with respect to payments, the fintech space and trade-based money laundering; and a genuine desire to continue to develop professionally.

The role will support the AU AML/CTF Compliance Officer / APAC Head of AML, also based in our Sydney office, to manage all aspects of the AML/CTF program and assist the regional and global AML teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day requirements of the eBay Australia AML/CTF program including executing controls, drafting and updating policies and procedures and reporting to senior management.

  • Providing subject matter expertise, training and outreach to the business functions and broader teams.

  • Conducting ongoing AML/CTF assessments of products and services to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Coordinating with product and functionally aligned colleagues across all areas of the business to ensure the effective implementation of various procedures and controls.

  • Monitoring and assessing the execution and adequacy of existing procedures and controls on an on-going basis.

  • Ensuring effective oversight of the AML/CTF program by the board and senior management via regular reporting and coordinating various committees.

  • Partnering with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Engineering, Risk, Product, and Customer Experience to build and maintain effective controls including leading and facilitating various projects where necessary.

  • Supporting the preparation of regulatory filings, such as suspicious matter reports.

  • Working closely with colleagues to support and build a strong culture of compliance across the Australian payments business.

  • Identifying and advising on emerging ML/TF and regulatory risks across the business and regulatory landscape.

  • Supporting compliance reviews, internal audits, and regulatory requests and ensuring the satisfactory resolution of any feedback, findings or recommendations.

Your Experience:

  • Extensive industry experience with a background in Compliance gained in a payments or financial institution.

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in law or a related subject area with an outstanding working track record.

  • Deep knowledge of the AU legislative and regulatory framework in relation to the AML/CTF Act.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated within a multi-dimensional business environment.

  • Experience with AU regulators and law enforcement agencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, global organisation.

  • Strategic and goal-oriented focus with the ability to lead and facilitate projects locally, regionally, and globally.
