Role Overview:

Reporting to the Head of Collectibles for eBay Canada, this position involves driving the collectibles vertical strategy for your assigned categories as a Category manager. You will work closely with both internal and external partners to make sure eBay has the inventory and on-site experience to grow the business. You will have ownership over the success of your categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help drive category strategy (including pricing, inventory, promotions)

  • Monitor key performance metrics (pricing, inventory, discoverability, customer happiness, gross merchandise volume, etc.) and react to drive business

  • Lead all aspects of performance and business planning for top sellers, buyers, and 3rd party partners

  • Develop solutions to identify new businesses, build a strong pipeline and help with onboarding

  • Drive strategic product, policy, communications, business development, marketing, and inventory initiatives in a holistic manner to improve buyer & seller happiness

  • Drive eBay onsite and offsite event planning with cross functional teams

  • Develop and execute initiatives to fundamentally improve the user experience for our buyers and sellers

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience with growing responsibility in Merchandising, Buying, Category Management/Account Management in an online retail or marketplace environment

  • Prior experience within the Collectibles industry (Trading Cards, Sports Memorabilia etc., ) is an asset

  • Strong negotiations skills with external partners

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; French fluency desirable

  • Strong attention to detail with the sense of responsibility for the flawless execution of assigned tasks

  • Strong time management skills, including the discipline to get things done in ambiguous situations and the ability to work on multiple projects and navigate multiple partner engagements simultaneously

  • Expert in MS-Excel and fluency with MS-Office and SQL

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred

  • Experience in buying and selling on eBay an asset
