About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Art Director, the Design Lead plays a key role in the Global Brand Content Studio, the Center of Excellence for content at eBay. We’re a team of creatives, strategists, producers, and content experts that focus on high-impact initiatives and set the standard for content quality across the company. We champion the eBay Voice and Tone, develop end-to-end experiences, create guidelines for other teams to use in the creation of content, and create a forum and methodology to pressure test and review their work with our team and leadership.

We’re looking for an exceptional design lead who can create key visual experiences across the eBay platform. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of developing, implementing, and delivering enlightening, educational, and inspirational design experiences. They’re a creative innovator that can translate business needs into a fantastic customer-focused solution.

Your focus will be to bring the visual language of eBay to life through high-impact design experiences across brand touchpoints, including—but not limited to— emails, landing pages, push notifications, ads, educational materials, and more. You’ll align very closely with Product and Brand design leadership and apply the eBay visual design language to create high impact content experiences that drive brand initiatives. You’ll work closely with engineering to ensure quality control and to ensure pixel-perfect execution and work with product management, brand, marketing, and engineering to successfully create and market experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Own the design experience for key strategic initiatives within the Global Content Studio.

  • Craft alluring design solutions that adhere to the eBay design language

  • Produce experience architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user interface specifications, and final graphics

  • Create extraordinary user-centered designs incorporating business requirements, product learning, and customer feedback.

  • Collaborate with Product, Product Marketing, and other stakeholders in the development of key design experiences.

  • Partner with others in the broader design community to develop and extend the experience across the array of offerings.

  • Communicate your design work and negotiate future direction with peers, researchers, design leaders, product partners, and executives.

  • Work collaboratively with research team members and management. Take responsibility for initiating peer reviews of work and make time to give feedback on others’ deliverables as requested.

  • Regularly look outward to find opportunities for improvement and to incorporate advancements in UX technology, methods, and tools.

  • Diligent & Thorough – Consistent track record in creating exceptional design experiences. Strong understanding of the user-centered design process. Able to understand detail and find radically simple solutions that delight users.

  • Brand Aware – Have experience with brand strategy and can ensure our designs balance the need of the project with on-brand creative/look and feel.

  • A Go-Getter – Have the ability to work independently and exemplify a degree of tenacity required to proactively find information from SMEs. Comfortable with ambiguity.

  • Committed – Performs activities with passion and purpose

  • Curious – Ability to cultivate an understanding of industry trends and communicate your ideas to the Content Studio as a whole

  • Communicative – Excellent social skills, both written and verbal.

  • Tech-savvy – Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Invision, Figma, Sketch, Adobe, & Keynote. Experience designing mobile web, and/or on-device mobile applications.

  • Collaborative: Experience working with product managers and developers to deliver great experiences

  • Multitasker – Can handle the demands within our Content Studio and wider organization.

  • Organized & Results Oriented – Demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within timelines and high expectations.

  • Experienced— A portfolio that showcases relevant design projects and includes your process, design explorations and final work.

  • Data Driven – Ability to define success of goals and objectives using data and statistical analysis.

  • Internationally-Minded – Understanding of the cultural difference between countries and how to effectively adapt/localize global communications.

  • Educated – Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, or related design field

  • Experienced – 7+ years professional experience as an design lead / user experience designer.
